DAFO FA Softy
Product Features
The DAFO FA (Fixed Ankle) Softy uses a soft foam liner to provide more comfortable control of a fixed, less correctable foot, combined with a solid proximal upright to block both ankle plantarflexion and dorsiflexion. It was developed to serve smaller, lighter patients in need of wraparound foot control and strong ankle control without the extra weight of the two-part DAFO Turbo design. The DAFO FA is similar in appearance to the DAFO 3 but is taller and has a higher instep trimline and non-stretch anterior strap to block dorsiflexion. The solid upright blocks ankle plantarflexion. The modified instep trimline strengthens the anterior side of the brace, allowing it to support more of the forces generated by a crouched posture. The soft foam liner is ideal for patients with challenging foot anatomy, difficult to correct feet, or those prone to pressure points and irritation.

Common Questions about DAFO FA Softy
DAFO FA Softy keeps the same fixed-ankle control as the standard DAFO FA, blocking both plantarflexion and dorsiflexion, but adds a soft foam liner for more comfortable control of feet that are difficult to align or have sensitive bony prominences.
It is best suited for smaller, lighter patients, generally under 65 lbs., who present with strong crouching or excess dorsiflexion and need wraparound foot control with strong ankle control.
