Product Features

The DAFO 3 Softy has a soft foam liner that surrounds the foot to provide comfortable control of position. It combines full wraparound foot control with a solid proximal posterior upright that blocks ankle plantarflexion and allows free dorsiflexion. Blocking ankle plantarflexion is an effective strategy for discouraging toe walking and/or knee hyperextension, provided the patient has sufficient dorsiflexion range and strength to maintain a good functional position.

DAFO 3 Softy keeps the same full wraparound foot control and solid proximal posterior upright as DAFO 3, but adds a soft foam liner for more comfortable control of feet that are difficult to align or have sensitive bony prominences.

It is intended for younger or smaller patients, generally under age 9, especially those with excess plantarflexion, very little voluntary ankle control, consistent toe walking, excessive pronation or supination, or a need for a proximal upright to control knee hyperextension.
